The El Dorado Brass Band of Old Sacramento expands its' musical selections into the 'Golden Era' of town bands that flourished after the Civil War.  The band  dons snazzy wool uniforms of bright red and gold which are more suitable to the 'concert in the park' programs... as long as there is some shade!

In yet another guise, our group takes on the quasi-persona of a 'Gold Rush' era band playing Stephen Foster favorites such as Oh Susanna, Camptown Races and the Banks of the Sacramento.  The band adopted this uniform to dodge the heat so prevalent during many of our summer performances.  So far, nobody has asked us to double for a group of rodeo clowns...

There are times when the EDBB is encamped near the 'lines' during a Civil War re-enactment.  In order to avoid being taken prisoner and sent to Andersonville, the band can quickly adopt the attire of a rebel band and play a quick, rousing  chorus of 'Dixie'.  Re-enactments are quickly becoming a staple of the 5th California and 43rd Virgina. Our band is working on improving the 'impression' constantly and with a musical selection so great, we can easily please any ardent abolitionist or secessionist.   Consider engaging a veteran unit such as the 43rd at your next Civil War roundtable or hoop-skirt ball.
